NSF NCSES seeking Deputy Division Director


  1. Collect, acquire, analyze, report and disseminate statistical data related to the S&E enterprise in the U.S. and other nations that is relevant and useful to practitioners, researchers, policy makers and the public;
  2. Support research using NCSES data;
  3. Improve methodologies in areas related to the work of the Center, and
  4. Support the education and training of researchers in large-scale nationally representative data sets.

NCSES is also responsible for producing the biennial Science and Engineering Indicators report for the National Science Board along with another congressionally mandated report, Women, Minorities, and Persons with Disabilities in Science and Engineering.

The Deputy Division Director serves as a member of the SBE and NCSES leadership teams.  In collaboration with the Division Director, the Deputy implements overall strategic planning and day-to-day management for the Center with respect to ongoing NCSES data collections, the development of new data collections and products, ongoing and proposed analyses as well as management of the production of Science and Engineering Indicators and a wide variety of other products. Along with the Division Director, the Deputy Division Director provides leadership and guidance to Center staff members, determines funding requirements, maintains overall management of survey and other contracts, prepares and justifies budget estimates and budget products, balances program needs within NCSES, establishes priorities in data collections and analytical projects, allocates resources within the several NCSES programs and represents NSF to relevant external groups. The Deputy Division Director fosters partnerships within SBE, with other Divisions, Directorates, Federal agencies, scientific organizations, international bodies and relevant professional associations and the academic community.
